2020 Year In Review

Save Hamlet Reading

2020 – Annus Horribilis

2020 was… horrible.  For all of us.  Nonetheless, I did get a few productions in, mostly on Zoom.

I also finished “Save Hamlet!” my first full-length!  I had some readings of it on Zoom (one is pictured above).

Some highlights:

  • “Scripted”, “The Rental” and “Misfortune” were produced together as “The Room” in Bari, Italy, before the pandemic in January
  • “Defiant Man”, a new play, was given a staged reading by the St. Paul’s Arts Council and won Best Play.
  • “Dim Sum”, a full evening of food-related plays, received its first production at the Panhandle Community Theater in Pace, FL.
  • “Oy Vey Maria” was produced by the famous Barrington Stage Company.
  • “Ordained” was produced in Diez Minutos, in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico — the second week was cancelled due to the start of the pandemic.
  • Five one minute plays were produced as part of the Quaranteeny Play Festival, with “The Order” winning “Best Play”.
  • “The Near Distant Future” had its World Premiere at O.G. Productions in Columbus, OH.
  • I once again appeared in Asphalt Jungle Shorts in Kitchener, ON, Canada — this year with my play “Stats”.
  • “Brunch” had its World Premiere as part of “Live From The Anarchist Jurisdiction”, produced by One Minute Play Festival (1MPF) and the Dramatists Guild
  • I continued my over ten year streak of appearing in shows at The Colonial Playhouse (Philadelphia, PA) by having three plays, “Face To Facebook”, “The Near Distant Future” and “Misfortune” in their “Parking Lot Plays”.
  • A one minute version of my play “A Report On Ancient Egypt” was produced by Gone In 60 Seconds (Gi60) online and aired by The Tank NYC.
  • The Possibilities Theatre Company did a full evening of my holiday plays, “A Very Special Holiday Special”
  • I ended the year back where it all started in 1998, at Neo Ensemble Theatre in Los Angeles.  They did a collection of my holiday plays called “Holiday Sweets”.
